Prehistoric man reveals the secrets of early inhabitants of America

Eighteen years it took scientists to finally uncover the mystery kanavinskogo person. Its partial skeleton was discovered by two teenagers in 1996 on the banks of the Columbia river (Columbia River) in Eastern Washington state. These remains tells us about the early history of the settlement of ancient people on the North American continent, thus forming the view of scientists about this process.

Says Dag Ously (Doug Owsley), an anthropologist from the Smithsonian Museum of natural history (Smithsonian Museum of Natural History), the bones of prehistoric man gave anthropologists an idea of what he ate and drank, what is his lifestyle, where he led their family. Moreover, researchers do know that he definitely was a nomad, gatherer, who has done a long way, before he passed away.

After analyzing his diet based on the meat of seals and other marine fauna, which, probably, have shaped its appearance, skull structure and body type, the researchers came to the conclusion that it could come from Polynesia on the raft or crafted from a thick tree trunk boat along the coast of the Japanese Islands, Eastern Siberia, Alaska, British Columbia and finally arrived to the shores of modern Washington. Each year the magazine Archaeology sums up the year in archaeology, while drawing up the rating of outstanding discoveries that shed light on the ancient history of mankind. Scientists waited many surprises from different historical eras. By the way, discoveries in archaeology are not listed in order of importance and not in chronological order. So, here’s the top 10 for 2012.

1st place: the ship of Pharaoh

Egyptologist Jan Tristant of the University of Sydney studied the response francuzskoy archaeological expedition of Professor Pierre Monte, who in 1914 examined the tombs of the pharaohs near the town of Abu Ravache. Suddenly he noticed something strange: French archaeologist wrote that the tomb was a wooden floor. It seemed strange – because prior to that, in Egyptian tombs never vstrechalas wooden floors. He suggested that, under wooden beams is hiding something else. And sure enough– under the tomb was found an ancient burial ship, made in 2950 BC There were also found ceramic vessels with beer and bread – apparently, this was not an easy craft and grocery baggage that accompanied the Pharaoh to the realm of the dead. Impossible fossils

Scientists believe that most layers of sedimentary rocks on the Earth’s surface were deposited slowly over millions of years. Most of these layers contain fossilized remains of plants and animals. But there are concerns.

On Earth there are many examples of fossils vertically pass through numerous layers of sedimentary rocks — from here and they got their name “polystrate fossils” (from poly — many, strata — layers).

For example, in coal mine Joggins (NS, Canada) you can find lots of vertically spaced trees raschitany in layers with a total thickness of 750 meters. These petrified trees can be easily seen.

Perfectly preserved, they pervade the strata, which supposedly were deposited over millions of years. The fact that the trees had to be buried faster than they would have rotted. In other words, these layers never could be deposited slowly over millions of years.

The trees would have decomposed long before this, and thus not rigid. Derek ager, Emeritus Professor of Geology at University College in Swansea, received their education in the spirit of strict Lilleskog uniformitarism, describes these fossils as follows: “the Total thickness of the British coal layers is about 1000 m, and assuming that they have been deposited over 10 million years, and when osloveien formation of sedimentary rock, then the disposal of the tree height of 10 m took place over 100,000 years, what really is ridiculous”.
