While searching for the grave of Ermak archaeologists have found rich burial of ancient Ugrians
Archaeological expedition historians of the Urals and Siberia, who were looking for this summer the burial of Ermak in the Tyumen region, coming to an end. Find the grave of the conqueror of Siberia researchers have so far failed, but made a number of other interesting archaeological finds. In particular, discovered the burial of ancient Ugrians X-XI centuries with a rich inventory. Among the items found are rare things.
We will remind as earlier reported, the tomb of Ermak historians of Tobolsk, Novosibirsk, Ishim and Omsk are in York United district of the Tyumen region, near the village Begichevskiy. Looking for the burial of Cossack in this place on the map of the 19th century, compiled by Filimonov surveyor in 1806. According to provincial land surveyor, grave of the Yermak was in this area because it is closer to the place of death of Ermak than Bishevskie cemetery where, according to legend, was buried Siberian conqueror.
Preliminary results of the expedition to the correspondent told the head of the Tobolsk archaeological expedition, candidate of historical Sciences Alexander Adamov. According to him, the final data historians will be ready to publish at the end of September: now the research continues.
As noted by Adams, the grave not found so far. Now they find out could be washed away by the water of the Irtysh. At the same time, the search area is large, and hoped that the burial is found, remains. This year archaeologists conducted work at three sites with a total area of 2 thousand 700 square meters. Were found two burials, one of them belongs to 10-11 century.
“Was buried with a rich inventory. In the burial were found very rare finds for our area: two iron swords, none with silver linings – they are lined with a thin silver foil; belt – preserved strap the belt with bronze plates, and other inventory: arrowheads, jewelry, charms, clay vessels,” said Adams.
Historians believe that the burial discovered the remains of drevnerusskogo of the population – the ancestors of modern Khanty and Mansi. They lived here nearly 500 years before Ermak’s campaign, and then the southern Ugrians were assimilated by the Siberian Tatars.
“This place needs to continue to explore, worked more likely. But the problem is that the map is not very specific. Think we need scientific methods to try to determine the place of burial of Ermak, using modern instruments, not only in archaeological studies,” concluded the head of the expedition.
According to Alexander Adamov, if further funding, the search for the grave of Ermak will be continued next year. This summer work was built at the expense of the presidential grant. Now to continue the excavation work, and to talk about all the findings in more detail, the archeologist promised in two weeks.
